Introduction

Introduction

This report has been developed for the Old Royal Women’s Hospital site Redevelopment Project. The project encompasses a mix of retail space, offices, support service areas and a 42 space car park below ground.

The brief has requested a world class facility for researchers, academics, students and the like, which is innovative and environmentally friendly. For these purposes we have included the Green Star rating in Appendix D.

In terms of the construction of the building, a number of issues were identified, mostly in relation to the site location. This project is situated on the corner of two arterial roads of the area being Grattan St and Swanston street, which provide potential hazards including maintaining public safety, ease of access to and from site, proximity of the building to other major operating structures and existing tram lines. These factors were addressed as part of the Risk Management section of Submission 1 (which can be viewed in its entirety by accessing the QR code on the presentation poster) though have been discussed more thoroughly as part of the Buildability Report, Construction Management Plan and Traffic Management Plan in this report.

Given there will be works undertaken at a height, and in close proximity to the public, an OH&S plan has also been included together with associated SWMS forms for the element which was considered in detail for this assignment (roof).
